[Saigoku Travelogue] IX - Hiroshima Castle

Hiroshima Castle, also known as "Carp Castle", was constructed by Mori Terumoto in 1589. The castle offers panoramic views of Hiroshima City and is a symbol of the city's resilience.

Originally built as a powerful feudal stronghold, the castle was destroyed by the atomic bomb in 1945. The current structure is a faithful reconstruction completed in 1958. Inside, the museum displays samurai armor, weapons, and the history of Hiroshima before the war.

From the top floor, I could see the Peace Memorial Park in the distance. Walking through the castle grounds, I reflected on how Hiroshima has risen from tragedy while never forgetting its past. The castle stands not as a glorification of war, but as a testament to peace and cultural heritage.
